TAG: Voting Americans, Presidential Election

With the upcoming Presidential Election just months away, we can’t help but wonder how many Americans will actually cast their ballot. To vote in the United States, eligibility is granted if the person is an adult (age 18 or older), be a US citizen and meet the residency requirement of his or her state (you basically just have to live in that state). While voting requirements are simple, there is an on-going challenge to boost political engagement and increase voting levels especially among certain minority groups and younger generations. According to the US Census registration and voting data, of the total 250 million Americans eligible to vote, only 58% voted in the 2012 Presidential Election. A truly scary statistics as it is those 58% that influenced who runs our nation and the policies we enforce. This begs the question, would results be any different if all of those eligible voted? Let’s not wonder this time, be sure to vote in this election.
